As the first trail ride in the nation to be sanctioned by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as an official fundraiser, the Cowboy Capital MS Trail Ride was started in 1996 by Erath County MS Community Support Group.

When it was proposed that the group hold a traditional walk as a fundraising event, a group member said “This is cowboy country; we don’t walk, we ride.” And the rest is trail ride history.

On the first Saturday of May, the three-hour trail ride is held at the Blue Stem Ranch north of Stephenville, Texas (get directions.) Participants may choose to ride their own horses, or participate in the 5K Trail Run or the 1-mile Trail Walk.

The next event will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025.

Funds raised will be donated to the National MS Society to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis, supporting research, education, advocacy and local programs that enhance the quality of life for people with MS and their families.
